Kawakami Jr High's Wooden School Rooms
Kawakami Junior High was built in 1949 and faithfully welcomed students every year until local population decline led to its closure in 2012. The wooden structure of the school has remained unaltered since the time of its original construction and is now preserved as a cultural property. The halls remain in the same state as when the school was closed, with awards, letters, and art projects still hanging on the walls. Next to the schoolyard is a small shrine and walking path that leads to Katano Waterfall.
Outdoor area only is open to the public.
